I listen to the gentle murmuring voice
Of our city, awake despite the hour
And I linger, unwilling to return
To the television world inside — droolingmonkey

A Long Goodbye

Today I am mourning the loss of Danny,James brother..he was a wonderful brother-in-law and we were very close. They both had lymphoma.
James was diagnosed in 2003 with B cell stage 4 and chose not to have any treatment. He wanted to live the rest of his life without sickness from chemo or radiation and it was already all through his body and in his bones.
Danny was diagnosed 10 yrs ago with B cell lymphoma..not as aggressive as James kind.
Danny had every treatment available and lasted a long time.In his 60 yrs he battled polio as well as cancer. He raised a disabled child and lived a life, full and happy.
We spoke every couple of days on the phone and I travelled to Oklahoma to see him in June..Im so glad I did.
Now they are united once again as brothers.Tonight I will have a glass of merlot and celebrate the life that belonged to Dan Taylor...RIP my friend.

oh 8 oh 8 oh o8

08/08/08 it seems like it must be a significant number to me..how often does it happen?
If I was Chinese Id believe it was lucky but I dont believe in luck..altho I deserve some..
I do however believe in fate.pslm 139 says God knew us before we were born. Its our destiny..

Footprints

This is a pic of the garden I planted in Boston..It looks lovely now and the marigolds have pumped since I left! They have tripled in size and its nice to get pics of them and see the progress. They brighten up the street and everyone stops to admire them...I have done this everywhere.I planted gardens in OKC when I lived there too.I dont think I can go for longer than a couple of mths anywhere without putting my hands into the soil and planting! I usually start off with things in pots and hanging baskets but they get too big and I get bored so I plant them in the ground and replant the baskets.
Today in New Zealand Ive been repottong the hanging baskets with lobellias, pansies, sweet william, and polyanthus. They look bright and happy. We have had almost a mth of daily rain, gale force winds, cold and its not been gardening weather..but today is great. Its still windy as but at least my hands are planting again in the soil that is rich with peat. Its free draining so I can grow anything.Im about to get my big strong son to dig out a huge rose and replant it and move some big buxus to new locations.
Oh I feel so happy when the sun is shining! I dont care what the temperature is as long as the suns bright! Have a great weekend my friends.
